Fixing Duplicate MIDI Notes in FL Studio (The "MIDI Trash Bin" Method)Updated 10 hours ago

Users of FL Studio have reported that when they try to record from Orchid, they get duplicate or extra MIDI notes, even when their track is set to receive from a single channel. This is due to the way FL Studio handles unassigned MIDI data.

  • The Issue: FL Studio automatically routes any MIDI data from unassigned channels to the currently selected instrument in the channel rack. Because Orchid is always sending data on channels 1, 2, and 3, the extra data gets recorded.

  • The Workaround (MIDI Trash Bin):

    1. In FL Studio, create your main instrument track and set its MIDI input to receive from Orchid, Channel 1.

    2. Create two additional, empty instrument channels.

    3. Set the first empty channel to receive MIDI from Orchid, Channel 2.

    4. Set the second empty channel to receive MIDI from Orchid, Channel 3.

    5. Route the audio output of these two "trash" channels to nothing, or leave them empty.

    6. When you want to record, make sure your main instrument on Channel 1 is selected, but do not have it as the active channel in the channel rack. Select one of the trash channels instead before hitting record. This way, the unwanted MIDI data is captured on the silent tracks, leaving your main track clean.

We are actively working on fixing this in future firmware updates.
