Understanding Chord Notations on the Display (JAZZ???, WTF?, x)Updated 10 hours ago

When you start creating complex chords, you may see some unusual notations on the screen. Here's what they mean:

  • JAZZ / ??? / WTF?: Orchid's screen has limited space. When you add three or more chord extensions, the resulting chord becomes too complex to write out in standard notation. The device uses these fun placeholders as a shorthand.

    • To see the exact notes being played in these complex chords, switch to the Geek Out view mode (Options > View).

  • The "x" Symbol: In music theory, an "x" next to a note indicates a "double sharp." For example, Fx is an F-double-sharp, which is enharmonically the same as a G natural. Orchid uses this notation to remain musically correct within certain key signatures.
