Understanding the Firmware Update Process via WebMIDIUpdated 10 hours ago

Orchid uses a modern, browser-based update process called WebMIDI, which allows the firmware site to communicate directly with your device.

• Browser Requirements: The updater requires a browser that supports WebMIDI. This includes Google Chrome, Brave, Opera, and other Chromium-based browsers. It does not currently work on Apple's Safari browser.

• The Process:

  1. Connect your Orchid to your computer via USB-C.

  2. Open the firmware update page: firmware.telepathicinstruments.com

  3. Your browser will likely show a pop-up asking for permission to "access MIDI devices." You must click Allow.

  4. The website will then detect your Orchid and show its current version.

  5. Click the "Update Orchid" button to begin.

• Important: To prevent errors, do not close the browser tab or let your computer go to sleep during the update process.
