Using Orchid as a Polyphonic Sound Module via MIDI InUpdated 9 hours ago
While not an officially documented feature yet, the community discovered that Orchid can receive MIDI notes via its USB-C port, allowing you to play its internal synth engine with an external controller.
How it Works: Connect a MIDI keyboard or sequencer to your computer, and route the MIDI out from your DAW to the Orchid.
Polyphony: The most exciting part of this discovery is that while Orchid's own keyboard is monophonic (for single notes), the synth engine responds polyphonically to incoming MIDI data. This means you can play your own complex chords from a larger keyboard and hear them with Orchid's unique sounds.
Limitations: This method appears to only trigger the raw sound from the synth engine (on Channel 1) and the bass engine (on Channel 2). It does not engage Orchid's chord generation or performance modes (like Arp or Strum).
