v3.04 – QR Code Stuck on DisplayUpdated 23 days ago

We've had a handful of reports from some Mac users experiencing issues after updating their Orchid firmware. If your device is stuck on a QR screen, follow these steps to make sure your Mac is recognizing it properly (assuming this issue stems from using a Mac).

If your Orchid device is stuck on a QR code screen after a firmware update, here are the steps you can follow to ensure your Mac recognizes it properly:

Step 1: Ensure Your Mac Prompts for USB Devices

Open System Settings from the Apple menu. Click on Privacy & Security. Scroll down to 'Allow accessories to connect' and select 'Ask for new accessories'. This setting will prompt your Mac whenever a new device is connected. When connecting Orchid, you should receive a prompt to click 'Allow'. If you do not receive a prompt, continue with the next steps and report back with your OS details.

Step 2: Perform the Firmware Update Process

First, ensure that Orchid is powered down. Connect Orchid directly to your Mac using a USB-C cable, avoiding hubs, docks, or adapters. If you encounter connection issues, try using a different USB-C cable. Access the firmware update page in Chrome, then power on Orchid. Your Mac should prompt you to allow Orchid; click 'Allow'. The firmware page should detect Orchid as a MIDI device, enabling the Upgrade button. Click Upgrade, and once complete, restart Orchid.

Feel free to contact us with your Mac model, operating system version, browser type, and USB connection details if issues persist.

Please know that the Orchid is not bricked as this is a software issue.
