What's the Difference Between Playstyles (Simple, Advanced, Free)?Updated 8 hours ago
The Playstyle setting (found in Options > Playstyle) changes how the Chord Type buttons (Dim, Min, Maj, Sus) interact with the keyboard, allowing you to tailor the Orchid to your performance needs.
Simple: This is the most straightforward mode. You must press and hold a Chord Type button before you press a key to play a chord. The chord will sustain as long as you hold the key, even if you release the Chord Type button. You cannot change the chord type (e.g., from Major to Minor) without releasing the key first.
Note: An issue in older firmware that could cause unexpected behavior when releasing buttons during an arpeggio has been fixed in firmware v3.32 and later
Advanced: This mode offers more flexibility. You can press a key to play a single note, and then press a Chord Type button while the key is still held to trigger the chord. You can switch between different chord types while holding the same key. The chord will sustain until the key is released.
Free: This is the most dynamic mode. It behaves like Advanced Mode, but with one key difference: when you release the Chord Type button, the sound reverts back to the single root note, as long as you are still holding the key. This allows for fluid transitions between single-note melodies and full chords.
