Is it Safe to Update the Firmware on a Mac? (The Bricking Issue Explained)Updated 5 hours ago
Early users reported that firmware updates could "brick" their Orchid, making it unresponsive. This was a legitimate issue, but it has since been resolved.
The Cause: The problem was primarily related to the USB power/data negotiation issue with newer MacBooks. The failed data handshake during the update would cause the process to stall.
Is it Still an Issue? No. It is now safe to update your firmware from any computer, including Macs. Firmware v3.32 includes improved connection logic to prevent the update process from stalling.
