Why Does My Audio "Pop" or "Crackle"? (Gain Staging & Cables)Updated 6 hours ago
If you hear unwanted pops, clicks, or digital distortion when recording Orchid's audio, it is almost always caused by one of two issues:
Improper Cabling: Orchid has a stereo output. If you use a cable that combines the left and right signals into a single mono input on your audio interface, it will cause phasing issues that sound like distortion. Always use a stereo breakout cable (3.5mm TRS to two 1/4" TS mono jacks) connected to two separate inputs on your interface.
Gain Staging: Some of Orchid's internal sounds and effects (especially Reverb) are very lush and can be "hot" (loud). If your audio is clipping, try these steps in order:
Turn down the main Volume Dial on the Orchid itself.
Turn down the gain/level on your audio interface's inputs.
